COWS helps ‘mooove’ people in Lubbock, Wolfforth

For one Frenship-area business, COWS means more than large, four-legged animals.

Containers on Wheels, which goes by COWS, opened June 10 and is located at 7108 82nd St. It’s a portable storage company with a bovine-based theme to help people “moove.”

Val Cooper is the owner of COWS as well as Sign Pro, Frame Pro and Alante Floral. Mandee Rolen, COWS general manager, said portable storage is very popular and that’s why they wanted to bring COWS to Lubbock.

“It’s a big field that’s very convenient to customers and that’s how we kind of got started,” said Rolen. “We had seen the COWS and they started a new dealership program so we are the very first dealership in the U.S.”

Storage containers can be rented daily, weekly, monthly or even yearly. The containers can be kept on site or stored longer at the COWS secure storage facility located in Reese Business Park. COWS drops off, moves, and picks up the containers. They also offer construction dumpsters, which COWS drops off and picks up.

“When gas prices went up a lot of people sold their trucks,” she said. “It used to be everyone had a brother, uncle, or dad with a truck. Now that’s just not the case and people need more help moving their stuff than they used to.”

COWS offers eight- and 16-foot-long containers and has 55 of them. Locks are provided for the containers by COWS, but the customer who rents the containers is the only person who has a key.

Rolen said many people rent their containers when people are remodeling their homes or preparing for garage sales.

“Everyone who works here is very dedicated to taking care of our customers,” said Rolen. “I love working here, it’s really a lot of fun. You just can’t look at our logo and not smile.”
